“My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord.” (Psalm 145:21)
It is always a good idea to come into the Lord’s presence with an armload of praise.
He has filled our lives with his presence, and we are indebted to him from the moment our eyelids flicker open to the time they close at night. With much to accomplish and schedules packed to the brim, it is fitting to lift up our hearts in praise to the one who does all things well.
Father, we join the psalmist of old to applaud you as the King, perfectly in charge of every minute detail of life on earth. We have the pleasure of pouring out blessings on you. What a delightful thought! You who are always blessing us, we approach with blessings. Today, and all the days to come, we honor you for being wonderful and wise, gracious and giving, faithful and full of goodness. There is no end in sight to your greatness, and your vast glory defies all measurement.
Today our thoughts are awash in you. Your majesty and might go beyond time and space. Awesome is just one feeble word we conscript as a description of your nature. We quickly run out of adequate words, you who are uncontainable and uncompromising and perfectly divine.
Thank you, Lord, for your mercy that flows unrestrained. Thank you for your love that is steadfast and certain, amazing and true. Thank you that you extend forgiveness to us in limitless fashion and bind up our aching wounds. You comfort us in the deep places where no one else could possibly reach. We are your grateful people.
You are High King with a kingdom that trumps all others. You dominate and rule supreme. No one can defy you. There is no force or form to compare with you.
You cradle us with loving arms and cover us with tender compassion. You lift us up when circumstances crowd in and break us down. You fill us with good and anoint us with your favor. Your grace is always sufficient. Always.
Faithful Father, loving Lord. During this season of our lives, may you look into our hearts and be blessed by the outpouring of praise you find there. May you find great delight in the praises we bring to you as our gift.
